New Orleans is the center of the green building universe as the U.S. Green Building Council and Hanley Wood brings the "Leadership Jazz" of Greenbuild Expo and related events take place over the week of October 18-25 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The Expo show floor, open October 22-24, features more than 600 companies.

Healthy buildings, living buildings, net zero, regenerative and universal design, microgrids, water and energy efficiency, all this and much more will be featured in showcases, educational sessions, workshops, displays and vendors. A series of tours will showcase green buildings, infrastructure, and environmental issues, and a plethora of global leaders will participate in daily workshops during the conference.

NOLAVibe principles Grasshopper Mendoza and Steve Picou have been actively involved with the USGBC-Louisiana chapter since 2007. Grasshopper currently serves on the state chapter Board of Directors and chairs the Advocacy Committee.

The USGBC Louisiana Chapter has been working with a regional Host Committee to prepare for the more than 20,000 anticipated attendees and their expected $35m impact. According to Erin Ryerson, Host Committee Chair, "Our goal is to increase investment in green buildings and communities in the New Orleans/Gulf Coast region." Greenbuild Expo was more than seven years in the making for New Orleans, and the event is highly sought after and not expected to return to the Crescent City for many years, making this a truly special opportunity.
